Hunan Xiangchuan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Xiangchuan Heavy Industry") was established in 1945 as the Hunan Changsha Shipyard. It is now a wholly-owned state-owned enterprise under Changsha Transportation Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. The registered capital is 200 million RMB, covering an area of over 600 acres. The factory is located on the banks of the Xiang River in Jinggang Ancient Town, Wangcheng District, Changsha City. It is the largest shipbuilding production base in Hunan Province and one of the best shipbuilding enterprises in terms of facilities and equipment in the central and southern regions of China. Since its establishment, it has delivered more than 1,000 military auxiliary ships and civilian vessels, including landing craft, amphibious vehicles, unmanned ships, government vessels, passenger ships, engineering ships, and new energy yachts.

The company is a demonstration enterprise for intelligent manufacturing in Changsha City, a provincial-level enterprise technology center, a national high-tech enterprise, a provincial-level contract-abiding and trustworthy enterprise, a national excellent industrialization base, and a national "little giant" enterprise recognized at the national, provincial, and municipal levels for specialization and innovation. It possesses qualifications such as a Class A general ship design unit, a first-class II steel general ship production enterprise, a first-class aluminum general ship production enterprise, and a first-class contractor for steel structures, as well as certifications for CCS ISO 9001 quality management system, ISO 14001 environmental management system, and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system.

The company currently has three large processing workshops measuring 180m x 30m x 16m, four large indoor shipbuilding platforms measuring 150m x 24m x 16m, a total area of 26,000㎡ of outdoor shipbuilding platforms, and a transverse slipway with a maximum length of 100m and a maximum weight of 6000T. It is equipped with 22 sets of 120T synchronous electric control hydraulic small trolleys. The ship launching is controlled by a centralized intelligent computer system, allowing for all-weather and unobstructed launching. Additionally, there is a fixed outfitting dock measuring 80m x 18m, equipped with a 40T full rotation tower crane. The company has the capability to build various small and medium-sized ships with a length of 100m and a light ship weight of up to 2000T.

The company currently employs over 400 staff, including more than 20 senior title holders and over 40 intermediate title holders, and holds more than 30 patents. In 2014, the company introduced a complete set of technology and production management team from Wuhan Nanhua High-Speed Ship Company, significantly enhancing its shipbuilding technology, quality, and management level.

The company has strong technical capabilities and has established strategic partnerships with several universities and high-tech enterprises, including the National Water Transport Safety Engineering Technology Research Center, China Shipbuilding Group, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and Wuhan University of Technology. It has technical advantages and innovative capabilities in areas such as the organic integration of design and construction, wave-dissipating ship types, steel-aluminum welding, thin plate forming, vibration and noise reduction, ship decoration, efficient propellers, battery-powered propulsion, and comprehensive information applications.
